Cultural Stories from Spain: Grape Harvest Festivals of Spain

Early fall also marks one of the most exciting times for wine enthusiasts to visit Spain. The Spanish grape harvests of September and October are often celebrated by regional festivals dedicated to the sale and tasting of local wines, demonstrations of traditional wine making processes, and folk song and dance, amongst other events. Most visitors might turn their heads towards the region of La Rioja for such festivities, but so many of Spain’s autonomous communities have their own unique takes on these celebrations, and equally good (if not better!) wine for the tasting. Asturias, the Basque Country, Castilla y León and Andalucía (to name a few) should make your short list as well if you are lucky enough to be in Spain during this beautiful, temperate season!
